PESHAWAR: Under the annual development program of the Department of Endowments, Hajj, Religious and Minority Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, a five-day adventure program was organized for the youth of the minority community in Guliyat.
A press release said that more than 200 minority youth, men and women, traveled and participated from various districts of KP. The participants belonged to Christian community, Sikh community, Kailash and Hindus.
It aimed to strengthen the mental and physical breadth of the youth by stepping out of their comfort zones for struggle, endurance, self-confidence, weathering, competition and determination.
The objectives of the program were also related to tourism promotion, geographical knowledge, environmental friendliness, inter-faith harmony, teamwork, discipline and tourism.
Hiking, trekking, mountain climbing, water crossing, shooting, wild walk, rope climbing, sack race, thug of war and other physical activities were done. Participants were briefed on tourism opportunities, wildlife, climate change and environmental issues in the area.
Sessions were conducted by experts on civic responsibilities, climate change, legal and effective use of digital media for the participants. Aqeel Joshi, in-charge of Tourist Facilitation Center Dongali, informed the participants about regional tourism, environmental friendliness and the importance of tree planting.
A cleanliness campaign was organized in Khanspur to create awareness among the society and especially among the youth.
The participants of the program cleaned the Khanspur Cricket Ground and the nearby area. Different teams were formed and sports competitions were held among them, including cricket, badminton, thug of war, target shooting, sack race, indoor games including ludo, carrom. Board etc. included.
Cash prizes were given to successful teams. The participants were made to trek six kilometers to Mishkpuri, trek to Lalazar, trek four kilometers to the pipeline track from Ayubia to Donga Gully and were briefed on the historical significance of the pipeline track and Ayubia Tunnel.
The participants were also given a tour of Khanspur and Nithia Gali churches where they were briefed on the historical significance of the churches. The participants were given a tour of the historical places of the area, bazaar and Peshawar University Bargley Summer Campus. Bonfire and music were also arranged for the participants, which entertained the participants. Under the programme, a simple and dignified ceremony was held on the occasion of International Minority Rights Day.
