KARACHI, QUETTA: According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz, the residents of Karachi, the financial hub of the country, are likely to experience strong winds with a speed of 25 to 35 km per hour.
Sarfraz said that winds starting from the northeast will affect the city on December 24 and 25.
The forecast predicts a significant drop in temperatures during this period, with daytime highs expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius. However, the night is expected to be significantly colder, with temperatures likely to drop between 9°C and 11°C.
The meteorologist’s comments come as temperatures in the country’s financial hub have plunged into single digits on several occasions this month.
The current cold wave is not limited to the city as the temperature has dropped below the freezing point in several parts of Balochistan.
The temperature of Quetta was recorded at -5 degrees Celsius, while Kalat and Zhob recorded minus 4 degrees Celsius and Ziarat recorded minus 7 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, several areas of Lahore and Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) also received the first rain of winter on Monday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), more light rain is expected in the capital of Punjab during the next 24 hours. Moreover, reflecting the changing weather conditions, snow has also started in Murree.
