Instagram, the photo and video sharing social media platform owned by Meta, said its services are back online after thousands of users experienced technical problems accessing its platform on Wednesday. According to the outage tracking website. Downdetector.com.
According to Down detectorAround 12:50pm ET, which marked the peak of the outage, more than 100,000 incidents were reported with Facebook and nearly 70,000 with Instagram.
However, the number of reports for both apps has now dropped to over 1,000 as of 6pm.
Downdetector’s numbers are based on user-submitted reports. The actual number of affected users may vary.
Some Facebook and Instagram users posted on X that they were experiencing an error saying “something went wrong” and that Meta was working to fix it.

The platforms suffered another outage in October, when services were largely restored within an hour.
