Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s previous claims have been dismissed by experts.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who revealed their 2017 engagement was scripted and rehearsed, have been called out for providing false information.
During her Netflix documentary, Meghan described her 2017 interview with the BBC as an ‘orchestrated reality show’ and a ‘rehearsal’.
He said: “So we spoke with the press, then we went in, took the coat off, and did the interview, so it was all in the moment.
“But then also like, ‘And then there will be a moment when they ask to see the ring’. My point is that we weren’t allowed to tell our story because they didn’t want to…”
Harry then said: “Well, we’ve never been allowed to tell our story…that’s consistency.”
Mishal Hussain, who conducted a 2017 interview with the couple, however added that “we know that recollections may differ on this particular subject”.
Meanwhile, then-BBC director-general Lord Hall says Meghan’s allegation was ‘simply false’.
