ISLAMABAD: Amid ongoing talks to ease political tensions between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), party lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that the former ruling party will send its jailed founder Imran Khan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and government and establishment representatives offered to transfer Imran to Nithyagli but the PTI rejected the deal, the lawmaker said while speaking. Geo News Program ‘Today with Shahzeb Khanzada’.
A similar claim was made by the PTI founder’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, who had said a day earlier that Imran had been offered a deal under which he would spend the rest of his jail term at his home in Islamabad. The residence will be shifted to Banigala.
“[Imran] Khan said he was offered a transfer to Bani Gala. However, they emphasized that they will not go anywhere until those detained without trial are released,” Chaudhry told reporters outside Adiala Jail.
Speaking on Friday’s show, Marwat said the former prime minister was approached directly on several occasions.
He claimed that ‘It was assured that Imran would be released by December 20. Responding to a question regarding the talks, the lawmaker said that the PTI negotiators confirmed that no one was willing to accept the responsibility of submitting written demands.
“The team wants to consult the PTI founder before presenting the charter of demands.”
