Charsadda: Central Chairman of Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said on Sunday that it is the responsibility of the provincial government to maintain law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

While talking to journalists, he criticized the indifferent attitude of the provincial government on the Karam incident and said that the Chief Minister went to Islamabad to protest the day after the massacre in Karam.

Sherpao urged the federal government to support the provincial government on the Karam issue.

He said that the warring groups in Karam and Parachinar have exhausted their ammunition and now external forces are involved in the violence. He claimed that foreign elements wanted to establish dominance in Karam and Parachinar and incite hatred among local residents.

Sherpao acknowledged that there are some valid reasons for Pakistan’s accusations against Afghanistan, but stressed the need for the two countries to work together to resolve mutual issues.

In response to a question, he predicted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s civil disobedience movement would also fail like the November 24 protest.

He advised both the federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments to show flexibility on certain issues to maintain law and order in the province.

He also commented on all the discussions.

All Parties Conference (APC), which highlighted the rights of the provinces and the responsibilities of the federal government.

He said that PTI has secured more than 37 lakh votes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Why should 40 million Pashtuns have to bear the brunt of this party’s actions?

He added that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur should have taken the initiative in calling the APC, as it was his responsibility.

Sherpao said that development projects and public service are no longer important factors in getting more votes as priorities and methods of getting votes have changed.

He pointed out that the younger generation votes based on slogans and social media narratives rather than concrete achievements. He also warned of the dangerous consequences of the ongoing situation in Syria.
