Hangu: Hangu Kohat main road has been opened for all kinds of traffic after three days of closure. Hangu Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman Wazir told reporters that complete law and order has been restored in the district. He said that due to ongoing tension and protest in Karam district, traffic is suspended on Hangu Kohat main highway.
However, with the support of the peace committee and local elders, successful negotiations were held between the two sides. He said that the Hangu Kohat main road is now open for all types of traffic and markets have also opened and business has resumed as usual.
Gauhar Wazir further said that more than 15000 displaced persons have reached Hangu from Karam, adding that the district administration is providing accommodation and food to 1700 displaced persons.
He said that along with the members of the peace committee, Shia and Sunni elders played a key role in restoring peace. “Hungu is a peaceful district and its people are peaceful and patriotic,” he concluded.
