Lindsay Lohan is recalling the creative genius behind one of her most iconic roles.
After the death of co-author Charles Shire The Parent TrapLohan, 38, paid tribute to the iconic director on Instagram on Dec. 29.
“He will always be in my heart, as will all my fond memories of him,” she wrote alongside a photo of him on set. “My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
Shire, who has died aged 83, was celebrated for his vast contributions to Hollywood. As the ex-husband and creative partner of The Parent Trap Directed by Nancy Meyers, Shire co-wrote the beloved 1998 film that catapulted Lohan to stardom.
Meyers shared his emotional tribute on Instagram with photos from their time together, captioned, “Charles Shyer 1941–2024,” along with a broken heart emoji.
In the comments, Lohan reflected Meyers’ sentiments with her broken heart emoji, while her mother Dina Lohan added, “So sorry for your loss.”
Shire’s family expressed their deep sorrow in a statement confirming his death on December 27. Deadline: “His loss leaves a gaping hole in our lives, but his legacy lives on through his children and the five decades of brilliant work he left behind.”
