A gator enjoys this time of year. The end of one year and the beginning of another provides an opportunity to reflect, reset and refocus.
This is true at NASA Stennis, a place that powers space dreams, or for anyone who enjoys staying up to date with all the happenings surrounding NASA Stennis – you!
In 2024, Gator witnessed a legacy of excellence at the South Mississippi NASA center. Milestones were set with preparations for testing the RS-25 engine and testing NASA’s new exploration upper stage for future Artemis missions, with the center working with commercial companies at the E-Test Complex to fuel the space market. The series continued, and it was declared historic. Payload missions to space will continue for the NASA Stennis Autonomous Systems Laboratory team.
Another bright spot at NASA Stennis is range operations. The partnership between NASA Stennis and Skydweller Aero is the first major step in this area. In 2024, NASA Stennis entered into an agreement with Skydweller Aero for the company to operate its solar-powered autonomous aircraft within the site’s restricted airspace.
This is the first agreement between NASA Stennis and a commercial company to use the center’s unique capabilities to support testing and operation of uncrewed systems.
The future is really bright. The New Year is like a NASA Stance Buffer Zone. A buffer zone of more than 125,000 acres provides many opportunities for site success and growth, as in a new year.
We can all make 2025 the best year we’ve ever had by setting bold, new goals.
