According to reports, Senior Superintendent of Police (Comb) Rajesh Dwivedi stressed that apart from ensuring security, the main objective of the police is to create a welcoming environment for the pilgrims.
“We want to make sure that the devotees have a pleasant experience, that the police officers behave warmly — not just as law enforcers but as servants of the faith,” Dwivedi said, as p. T.I. has quoted.
Also, Dwivedi reinforced strict food and drink restrictions for the Maha Kumbh, saying that non-vegetarian food and alcohol will not be allowed on the fair grounds.

“The food served in the police mess is completely vegetarian. We have instructed all personnel to act in a manner that respects the faith of the devotees.
According to reports, police personnel deployed for the Maha Kumbh are undergoing behavioral training at a special facility in the Mela area. External trainers will also be brought in to teach etiquette and public service skills.
So far, 1,500 police personnel have completed the training, and 40,000 personnel will have completed the course by the time the fair begins.

Moreover, the in-charge of the training program, Atul Kumar Singh, said that 700 police personnel are being trained simultaneously after the 21-day course. As the festival approaches, the training period will be gradually reduced to 14 days.
The National Police Academy is also providing specialized training for the police. Trained officials there are now preparing trainers and equipping a large contingent of police to attend the fair. This training ensures officers maintain the sanctity of the Maha Kumbh and uphold the religious and cultural significance of the event.
