Buckingham Palace was forced to take precautionary measures as King Charles’ health raised new concerns.
Prince William had to fill in for the cancer-stricken monarch to attend an important event in Paris on Friday, hours after Kate Middleton finished her much-anticipated Christmas carol concert.
The future monarch attended the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral along with 35 other world heads of state. Now, a friend of the king has revealed that palace aides made the decision deliberately.
The friend said The Daily Beast That King Charles and Queen Camilla wanted to keep things “quiet” ahead of the Christmas celebrations at Sandringham and avoid any risk to their health.
“[Charles] The weaknesses are well known but his pneumonia has been a nasty reminder of that,” shared Paul. “I think everyone’s relieved that he didn’t want to go to Paris and stand in the cold for hours. ”
Meanwhile, Camilla is also battling the “lasting effects” of pneumonia, which she contracted during a long trip to Australia in October.
He continued, “They’re very sensibly keeping things quiet just to preserve their sanity over Christmas.”
