Buckingham Palace released an update after revealing a change in plans for the big royal event as Queen Camilla battles her viral chest infection.
King Charles’ office released a video ahead of Qatar’s Emir and Sheikha Jawaharlal embarking on their highly-anticipated visit.
The video was meant to be an explanation for the public, who may have some burning questions about state visits hosted by the king.
“Official visits play an important role in strengthening the UK’s relationships with countries around the world,” the text said.
“The King, on the advice of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, invites the visiting head of state. Each visit includes several important elements, including: a formal reception, a guard of honour, a motorcade, a gun salute. .
He also explained that a state banquet is held on the evening of the guest’s arrival and the king gives a pre-dinner speech to the guests.
The guests – the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, accompanied by his wife Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani – will be welcomed by Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The event also marks Kate’s resumption of important duties as Princess of Wales, the future Queen, following her recovery from cancer.
Meanwhile, Camilla will miss some events during the tour as royal doctors have recommended the Queen rest from the concert until she fully recovers from the infection.
