Kensington Palace, the working royal residence and London home of Prince William and Kate Middleton, has been locked down following a dire warning.

The warning was issued over the weekend by the historic royal palace.

The Historic Royal Palaces took to X, formerly its Twitter handle, to confirm: “Due to Storm Britt, there are a number of closures at our sites on Sunday 24th November. Kensington Palace is closed today – please Hampton Court Palace and For more information on the gardens at Hillsborough Castle visit our website.

Meanwhile, according to AFP, Strong winds and heavy rain from Storm Britt ravaged much of Britain again on Sunday, causing “catastrophic” flooding, particularly in Wales, with almost 100 flood alerts across the country.

In South Wales’ Rhondda Cynon Taff county, 200 to 300 houses and buildings were flooded, a local councilor said, prompting authorities to declare a “major incident” in the area.

Storm Britt battered Britain and Ireland overnight from Saturday into Sunday, with high winds, heavy rain and snow disrupting transport links and leaving thousands of properties without power.

Around 100 flood warnings were in place across England, Scotland and Wales on Sunday, along with road closures and train cancellations.

According to the Environment Agency, around 80 properties in England have been affected by flooding.
