K-Electric (KE) has announced the launch of the fourth edition of the KHI Awards 2025 with a call for entries starting from 1 December 2024. The initiative is designed to celebrate and promote institutional-level philanthropy and has opened applications to nonprofits. Organizations, social institutions and institutions involved in running social and environmental impact projects or services in Karachi, Dhabiji and Gharo in Sindh, and Athal, Windar and Bela in Balochistan.
The KHI Awards, which will run successfully from 2021, reflect KE’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the spirit of collaboration across sectors and building a stronger, more united community. 110 million electricity rebates processed through 3 groups of KHI awards. Additionally, 108 organizations have been awarded through an independent and audited process that to date have positively impacted the lives of millions across multiple categories.
The awards include 14 categories covering areas as diverse as healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, safety, sustainability and choices that impact communities. Last year, Pakistan’s only private utility also managed to get more than 150 entries submitted in its previous edition, reflecting the credibility of the platform.
KE values and supports institutions from a range of sectors, including heritage and culture, digital access and financial inclusion, community development and other areas outside of the energy sector. KE aims to inspire a wider culture of helping, supporting and caring for Karachi’s diverse communities. Through this initiative, it seeks to highlight the remarkable contribution of organizations that work tirelessly to improve lives and build a better city.
This year’s theme, “Passion of Service for a Brighter Environment”, emphasizes the importance of working together to create a sustainable, prosperous and vibrant future. Organizations submitting entries to the award can choose from the category that best aligns with their projects.
