On November 30, 2002, NASA astronauts John Harrington (pictured) and Michael Lopez-Alegria performed the third and final spacewalk of the STS-113 mission. The objective of the mission was to install and activate the Port 1 Integrated Truss Assembly (P1). The first major component mounted on the left side of the station, the P1 truss provides an additional three external thermal control system radiators.
Harrington, an enlisted member of the Chickasaw Nation, was the first Native American to go into space. On STS-113, he logged more than 330 hours in space, including 3 spacewalks totaling 19 hours and 55 minutes.
