Jenny Mae is determined to leave everything from 2024 in the past — including the lessons learned — as she prepares to usher in the new year.
In an interview with PEOPLE, the Emmy-winning host shared her New Year’s resolution to “leave” 2024 in the proverbial rearview mirror.
“This year’s lessons are this year’s lessons,” said Mai, 45. “I’m excited for next year. I want to learn new things.”
“I learned very humbly that the things I believed in worked for me at a certain point in my life,” she added. “But now, there’s a new set of rules because they’re not just for me; they’re for my daughter.”
Mai shares a two-year-old daughter, Monaco, with rapper and ex-husband Jeezy. The former couple finalized their divorce in June, nine months after their initial divorce after two-and-a-half years of marriage.
Before ushering in 2025 with new rules, the television host shared one: not conflict with his feelings.
“One of the [the rules] Listening to myself — like actually listening to my feelings and not trying to prove myself different when your body is telling you, ‘No, it’s not cool’ or ‘It’s not right. ‘ or “That person is not safe,'” he explains.
Despite facing personal setbacks this year with a doomed marriage, Mai ended 2024 on a professional note, landing a role in Lifetime’s Christmas in the Spotlight, a festive romance starring Taylor Swift and Inspired by Travis Kelce’s real-life love story.
