PESHAWAR: Rain and snow lashed the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, ending a long drought. The hilly areas of Hazara Division, Swat, Upper Dir, Upper Chitral and Lower Chitral received much-needed snowfall.
With fresh snowfall, temperatures dropped further, forcing people to stay indoors. A severe shortage of firewood was reported in Upper Chitral, as residents struggled to cope with the cold weather.
There has been heavy snowfall in Yarkhun valley, Torkhu and Morkhu tehsils. In Lower Chitral, officials have advised people to avoid non-essential travel due to snowfall at Lowari Tunnel.
