Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the head of the political council of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Mohammad Ismail Darwish, have discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the establishment of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The meeting between Araqchi and Darwish as well as other council members took place on the sidelines of a tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey and Russia, the guarantors of the Astana peace process, in Qatar on Saturday.
Araqchi said that the principled position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting and resisting the occupation and aggression of the Zionist government will continue with strength.

Darwish said that Hamas and other resistance movements are determined to continue the fight against the Israeli occupation until the rights of the Palestinian people are fully restored.
He appreciated Iran’s full support for the Palestinian people and resistance.
He said that Hamas supports the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria and emphasizes the importance of maintaining the position of the Arab country in the resistance front against the Zionist American plots.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with senior Hamas officials, Araqchi expressed hope for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip despite “certain complications”.

He added that regional developments, especially the situation in war-torn Gaza and ceasefire negotiations were among the main issues discussed between the parties.
Iran’s top diplomat said the sides also discussed developments in Lebanon and Syria.
Araqchi called his talks with senior Hamas officials “useful” and said there was good coordination between the two sides.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister discussed the latest situation in Syria with his Turkish and Russian counterparts.
