Lahore: Peshawar defeated Lahore Whites by 125 runs on the third day of the fixture of the second triangular phase of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. The win puts Peshawar in contention for a place in the finals of the tournament.

In reply, Lahore Whites failed to chase it down. Chasing a target of 257, Lahore Whites were bowled out for just 131 runs in 23.3 overs in which Sajid Khan played an important role. Sajid took his 17th first-class five-wicket haul with impressive figures of 5/43 in just 6.3 overs, guiding Peshawar to victory. Despite Lahore Whites captain Saad Naseem’s brilliant knock of 56 off 62 balls, which included eight fours and a six, Lahore’s chase fell short.

Fast bowlers Niaz Khan (3-24) and Mir Hamza (2-38) also played an important role in Peshawar’s win, taking five wickets each. His efforts combined with Sajid’s exceptional performance ensured a comprehensive victory for Peshawar, keeping alive their hopes of qualifying for the finals.

Earlier in the day, Peshawar resumed their overnight score of 14/3 and were bowled out for 141 in 40 overs. Nabi Gul played an important innings, scoring 83 not out off 138 balls, which included 12 fours.
