LAHORE: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) organized several guided tours in 2024 to promote tourism at historical sites.
These tours were designed to provide tourists with an enjoyable experience full of historical exploration. Besides, the expert tourist guides of the Walled City of Lahore Authority informed the tourists about the historical importance of the monuments. Refreshments were also arranged for the tourists in all the guided tours.
The tours have received positive feedback from the Walled City of Lahore Authority which appreciated the new tourism initiatives. The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) continued the guided tours of Look Inside Lahore and History by Night in 2024. Moreover, the History by Night tour was enhanced with new performances like Sufi dance, Kathak, Sikh and Mughal.
On the other hand, the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) launched new guided tours in the year 2024. These newly launched tours include Roshan Gulyan Tour, Lahore Fort Hidden Spots Tour, “Yatra” – Sikh Heritage Sites Tour. Stories of Old Lahore, Taxili Gate – A Guided Tour of Taxili Gate, Guided Tour of Old Havelis in Inner Lahore, “Museum Mystery” – A Guided Tour of Galleries and Museums of Lahore, Guided Tour of Bhati Gate and Lohari Gate and “ “Fort Fright” – a terrifying tour of Lahore Fort.
These tours attract hundreds and thousands of tourists to the heritage sites. According to WCLA records, the number of national tourists at Lahore Fort was 5,325,847. Jahangir Tomb 774,304, Shalimar Garden 1,182,511 and Walled City Lahore 72,267. Similarly, the number of foreign tourists to Lahore Fort was 80,070. Jahangir Tomb 6697, Shalimar Gardens 4117 and Walled City Lahore 4236.
Asghar Hussain, Deputy Director Tourism, Walled City of Lahore Authority said, “We have taken commendable steps to promote and increase the scope of tourism at historical places in 2024. Our aim is to attract public attention to historical monuments. Furthermore, we have observed that through our guided tours, we have achieved high participation and attendance at historical sites so that people from all walks of life To come and see these historical places, we are very committed to come up with new ideas, strategies and initiatives to not only continue these tours but also significantly increase the tourist engagement at our historical monuments.
Director General of Walled City of Lahore Authority Kamran Lashari also expressed his opinion regarding the tours and said that this year has been the most successful for our organization. These tours were carefully designed to appeal to a wide audience. As a result, we had fascinating tours of old mansions, Sikh monuments, Lahore Fort, royal trails, museums, galleries and historic gates of Old Lahore.
