PESHAWAR: Criticizing the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the mismanagement of the Islamabad march, senior PTI leader and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Shaukat Yousafzai on Thursday said that the mistakes of the party leadership were due to the failure of the party. Founder Imran Khan’s imprisonment is increasing. .
The PTI leader said in a statement, “All responsibility for this lies with the central leadership.”
He said that the founder of PTI had given instructions to stage a dharna at Sangjani, so why was it ignored. He said that strategy in politics is made by looking at the situation.
A “do or die” protest by the former ruling party demanding Khan’s release ended with authorities arresting nearly 1,000 supporters.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has claimed that at least 20 people have been killed and said that the party will approach the courts against the government, the home ministry and the home minister.
Meanwhile, Islamabad’s police chief, Ali Rizvi, denied that ammunition was used during the operation and said that 600 protesters were arrested in Tuesday’s operation, leading to a sit-in on Sunday. After that, the total number has increased to 954.
Yousafzai said that Allah gave him a great opportunity which he wasted. He added that if they had gone ahead in consultation with each other, the results would have been different today.
To a question, he replied that Bushra Bibi was right to take to the streets for her husband’s release from jail. “The question is, what did the rest of the leadership do? Where was the central leadership?” he asked.
It should be noted that earlier Yousafzai had also questioned the leadership of Barrister Gauhar Khan and Salman Akram Raja.

In a statement regarding The News On Thursday, Yousafzai expressed his dismay, saying: “Gandapur has been made a scapegoat. [Imran] Khan had agreed to Sangjani, but Bushra’s [Bibi] Insistence on D Chowk cost the party dearly.”
He said that the party will be led by Bushra Bibi or leadership? If the leadership does not have the authority, they should resign. The D Chowk incident is very sad.
“Only Gandapur, Asad Qaiser, Umar Ayub, Ali Asghar and a few others were standing with the workers,” he said in a separate video message.
Further criticizing the lack of planning, he said: “Even if we were sitting at D Chowk, no solid planning was done. Why was an advisory committee not formed before leaving for Peshawar? Unfortunately, the party leaders did not lead the procession.”
Another major criticism was leveled at the logistical shortcomings of the protest, he said. Low turnout and inadequate facilities for participants, especially those who traveled from remote areas, contributed to the protest’s failure. Many workers also expressed frustration over poor arrangements.
Gandapur was praised for withstanding pressure from the party and its workers, but Yousafzai pointed out that “the party needs to consider why the real faces were neglected. Negotiations with the government were possible. . [but] Who rejected them? The government should not have resorted to such brutality, but internal mismanagement is also to blame”.
He said that there should be an inquiry into the matter as to why they took the party workers to D Chowk and then secretly disappeared from the scene leaving them alone at the mercy of the law enforcement agencies.
Directly challenging the PTI leadership, Yousafzai demanded accountability.
“If our leaders can’t face the situation or stand with the workers then they should resign. It’s unfair to PTI and Khan Sahib. Leadership is not about headlines. Our failures in Islamabad are poor. The result is a lack of planning and unity,” he said.
The former MLA further said that the loyalty of the workers is to the founder of PTI and not to individual leaders.
“We protested for Khan and his vision, not for anyone else. Leaders must explain to workers and make them reflect on their mistakes. Without accountability and reforms, we have PTI,” he warned. There is a risk of destroying I’s reputation and Imran Khan’s legacy.”
