For more than 24 years, astronauts have lived and worked continuously on the space station, testing technologies, performing science, and developing the skills needed to explore far from Earth. Astronauts aboard the orbiting laboratory communicate 24 hours a day with NASA’s Mission Control Center in Houston. SCaN(Space Communication and Navigation) Near Space Network.
Important research and technology investigations carried out on the space station benefit people on Earth and provide the foundation for other agency missions. As part of NASA Artemis campaign, the agency will send astronauts to the moon in preparation for future human exploration of Mars. Inspiring the next generation of Artemis explorers and ensuring America continues to advance in space exploration and discovery.
