An Indian Coast Guard helicopter crashed near Gujarat’s Porbandar airport on Sunday, killing at least three people – two pilots and a crew member, reports said. India Today.
The helicopter accident happened at 12:10 PM local time.
According to Porbandar Superintendent of Police Bhagirath Singh Jadeja, the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) crashed during routine training.
Officials said that all the crew members, including the two pilots, were pulled out of the wreckage of the crashed plane due to severe burns, but they later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
The Indian Coast Guard authorities have confirmed the deaths and said that the investigation into the causes of the accident is ongoing.
“The cause of the incident is being investigated by a board of inquiry,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.
“We salute the three brave souls of the Indian Coast Guard who laid down their lives in the service of the nation,” he added.
This accident happened a few months after another Coast Guard helicopter crashed into the sea.
