Hannah Brunner has clarified where she stands in the wake of the Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni drama.
The comedian addressed the timing of a joke he made about actress Lively. Netflix’s Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year.
The joke, which aired recently, was filmed before Lively took legal action against him. It ends with us. Directed and co-starring Justin Baldoni.
In his three-minute set on the Netflix special, Brunner, 33, joked, “The word ‘ct’ was trending this year. I don’t think Blake Lively was that bad.”
While the impromptu punchline drew laughs, it aired shortly after Lively, 37, filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, 40, on Dec. 20.
The lawsuit accuses Baldoni of running a smear campaign in retaliation for allegations of misconduct on Lively’s set.
Brunner took to Instagram Stories on December 27 to clarify the situation.
“My joke in the Netflix roast was filmed before the news. [complaint]” she wrote. “To be 100% clear, I support black xoxo.”
Netflix recorded the roast at The Bellwether in Los Angeles on December 17, three days before the lawsuit was filed.
In his legal filing, Lively alleged that Baldoni led a “public attack on Ms. Lively.” [that] It was the intended result of a carefully crafted, coordinated and resourceful retaliatory scheme to silence him and others from speaking out about the hostile environment.
Court documents include text messages obtained by subpoena and highlight the emotional toll on Lively and her family.
