BOSTON — Boston College Guard Donald Hand Jr. He made history Monday when he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball player of the week — along with his father, who earned the honor for Virginia in 2000.
They are the first father-son duo to earn ACC Player of the Week honors since the program’s inception in 1972.
Donald Hand Jr. scored a career-high 29 points with 10 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Fairleigh Dickinson, scoring eight of BC’s final 10 points in a 78-70 win. He leads BC in scoring with 15.3 points per game, and his 7.5 rebounds are eighth in the ACC.
Donald Sr. won the ACC’s top player of the week award on January 31, 2000.
