Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram on Monday dismissed the £190 million corruption case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi as a fabricated story and warned that if injustice People will not tolerate it. His remarks came hours after an accountability court in Islamabad adjourned its verdict in the corruption case, which was expected today, to January 6.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, the ruling party’s former information secretary called the PTI founder the country’s “greatest leader”.
He warned the government that “a case based on political vendetta will lead to global backlash.”
The PTI leader questioned why the decision of the 190 pound case was delayed.
Describing the case as a fabricated story, Akram said the reference was meant to force the PTI founder to bow down to the government.
“Why was the decision made? [in the case] The adjournment where the judgment is being written is making it so difficult.
There is nothing in the case, he said, adding that the PTI founder was only a trustee of Al-Qadir Trust.
Responding to a question, PTI’s information secretary called the military trial of civilians a “violation of the country’s constitution and international laws”.
He said that the case of civilians should not be tried in military courts.
Last week, military courts sentenced 25 people involved in the May 9, 2023 attacks on state facilities to between two and 10 years in prison.
Akram said that to get rid of political rivals, the current government was even ready to violate international laws.
The PTI leader maintained that his party would use all legal options against the sentences handed down by the military courts.

To another question, the former information secretary of the ruling party said that PTI’s negotiation committee has presented two points to the government team. He urged the government to lift restrictions on meetings with the jailed PTI founder.
