Giovanni Pernice, a former professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, has won an Italian dance show months after leaving the UK following complaints about his behavior on the show.
Pernis said his Balendo con Le Steele win with partner Bianca Guacero, who is also his girlfriend, was a dream come true, adding: “After a tough year I’m back”.
The show is Italy’s version of Strictly Come Dancing and its US spin-off Dancing with the Stars.
It comes after the BBC upheld “some, but not all” of the complaints made against him by his 2023 Strictly co-star Amanda Abington.
Pernice and Guaccero, an actress and singer, won the 19th season of Ballando Con Le Stelle, after performing dances including the Argentine Tango and the Charleston.
The couple recently confirmed their status as a romantic couple.
The Italian-born Pernice shared several posts on Instagram about her win and thanked her UK fans for their support.
In September, the BBC apologized to Pernice’s ex-partner Amanda Abington and upheld the harassment and verbal abuse findings against her but acquitted her of the physical assault charges.
Abington, who played Mary Morrison in Sherlock, has since said she feels vindicated. He had “no regrets” afterwards. Making complaints.
Parnis said at the time that he was “relieved that the allegations that I had been threatening and abusing him were not found to be true.”
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Parness said: “We did it!! We are the champions!! After a tough year.”
He added: “It felt amazing to be in the final again doing what I love – and then winning was a dream come true and definitely something I’ll never forget!”
A day earlier he told his “dear friends in the UK” that he and his partner could tell where the votes for the show were coming from because it was “about likes on social media”.
Parnis wrote: “We just want to say thank you so much, because really, we couldn’t do anything without you.
“We can see exactly what part of the vote is coming from the UK and you are incredibly amazing.”
