Berlin: German police said on Wednesday they had joined 15 other countries in an operation to disable online platforms that offer to carry out illegal cyber attacks.
The Federal Criminal Police said in a statement that its “Power Off” operation, in cooperation with Europol, took place this week and targeted so-called “stressor services”.
These enable distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks aimed at overwhelming and disrupting a website or server. Police said 27 such “stressor services” were taken offline, four of which were hosted in Germany. He also said that three suspected administrators have been detained in Germany and France and around 300 users of the platforms have been identified.
