Gavin and Stacey fans flock to Llanmaes Church where the wedding was filmed.

Gavin and Stacey’s wedding was filmed in a village church in the Vale of Llanmaes in Glamorgan.

A church where two Gavin and Stacey Scenes filmed saw visitors “clash” before the final episode.

St Cattwg’s Church in Llanmaes, Vale of Glamorgan, where Gavin and Stacey were married in series one.

This is also where the sitcom vicar Father Chris, played by William Thomas.demanded that his class tell him about their favorite sandwich.

Since Gavin & Stacey first aired 17 years ago the church has become a popular destination for fans across the UK, with many signing the visitor’s book.

“They’ll write ‘what’s up’ or that it’s a ‘green’ church,” said church warden Jeff Robinson.

Mr Robinson, 82, said the Gavin and Stacey cast and crew used St Kate’s Vig for two days of filming.

The 800-year-old church has no toilets, but Mr Robinson didn’t want to see the team suffer.

He said, “The BBC asked me if there was a toilet they could use while filming but the church didn’t have one, so I asked them to use the toilet at my house. can.”

“They had just finished filming the wedding scene and everyone decided to use the loo at the same time, with the whole wedding party wearing their hats and wedding dresses.”

“People must have thought we were holding a wedding reception,” he added.

“It was an extraordinary couple of days.”

Mr Robinson has been churchwarden at St Categus, which was built in 1234, for 25 years.

Despite the church’s long history, it is best known for Gavin and Stacey, he said.

“It’s been busy again recently because of the Christmas special. A couple just drove up from Guildford because they wanted to go to the church where Gavin and Stacey got married and that happens often. “

“Now it’s most famous for a program that didn’t happen – a TV wedding.

“When you think about all the real weddings that have taken place here over the years.”

The Gavin and Stacey cast remembers filming the nightclub scene for the first episode.

‘I like tuna’

Mr Robinson said that the sandwich episode – where Father Chris demands that the main character tell him about his favorite sandwich – “was also mentioned frequently in the Book of Zeezers”.

One entry, from people who said they drove three hours, says “I love Tunas” – pointing to Doris.

While another entry, from a couple from Dudley, says: “Love a good cheese and onion sandwich.”

Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, has visited the church herself in recent years to take photos and reminisce, Mr Robinson said.

But when pressed for his favorite sandwich, Mr Robinson said: “It would have to be tuna. Tuna mayonnaise on brown bread.”
