PA MediaGatwick Airport is facing a fourth day of disruption after heavy fog disrupted flights at one of the busiest times of the year.
The airport said some restrictions remain in place due to bad weather.
The airport added that 20 flights were canceled throughout the day on Monday to minimize any impact on passengers and allow aircraft to be repositioned.
A spokesman for London Gatwick said: “Temporary air traffic restrictions have been put in place due to fog causing poor visibility.”
Due to disruptions and restrictions, flights are expected to be delayed throughout the day.
The airport apologized for any inconvenience and asked passengers to contact their airline for more information.
Anyone with a flight delay of more than two hours may be entitled to assistance, including food or overnight accommodation if necessary.
The weather was cloudy in Gatwick on Monday morning.
No fog is forecast throughout the day and a dry, breezy and mild day is expected.
Expect to change to cloudy later in the evening.
When the fog clears, many planes and pilots may be out of place due to previous delays and cancellations, further disrupting air travel.
A spokeswoman for air traffic control services provider Nats added: “Our teams are working closely with airports and airlines to minimize disruption, but passengers should continue to communicate with their airline. Check flight status.”
The disruption has been at Britain’s busiest airport since Friday and continued into the weekend, when the airport expected its busiest day of the festive period.
At Gatwick on Sunday, around 30 departures and 28 arrivals were canceled throughout the day.
Other airports around the UK, including Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff, were among those affected by flights on Friday and Saturday.
