From chemicals to rodent droppings, Hyderabad restaurant inspections reveal safety violations.



The Food Safety Team in Telangana conducted an inspection on 30 December 2024 in Rangareddy district and Kompalli area and unearthed several food safety violations. The State Level Task Force team conducted inspections at M/s All Rich Dairy Pvt Ltd (Swetha Dairy), Pasumamulla (V), Abdullah Purmet (M) in District Rangareddy. Harmful chemicals such as TGV 999 caustic soda (850kg) were found at the site and are suspected to be used for adulteration. Several label defects were identified on the final product, including cross-branding and failure to declare additives such as artificial flavors. Chemicals and disinfectants were stored in the same refrigerator close to final dairy products such as cheese and flavored milk.

Given the nature of the violations identified, the license of the establishment has been suspended.

The Task Force team also conducted inspection in Kampala area, Hyderabad on the same date.

In the Malnadu kitchen, raw meat like chicken, mutton etc. was dumped in the refrigerator in an unsanitary manner which could cause contamination. Rat excrement was found in several places in the storage. The floor was found dirty and full of food waste in some places. In some places, the walls were found to be oiled and the tiles broken.

In the train theme restaurant, the floors were found to be damaged and slippery with food waste in several places. Drains were found to be full of food waste and standing water. Some food items were found on the floor in the storage area.

Finally, at Alvacharo, expired crushes (3 packs) and kova (1 pack) and misbranded and expired food articles (139 pill soda bottles) worth Rs. 14,936 were recovered and confiscated. Vegetables like tomatoes were found in rotten condition. Refrigerators were not maintained in hygienic condition. Drains were found to be clogged and not fitted with insect nets. The grinding area and washing area were found to be extremely unsanitary. The path was found to be greasy and dirty.
