First rain of winter, hail damage in other cities including Quetta

QUETTA: The provincial capital and several towns and cities of northern Balochistan received hailstorms on Friday along with the first rains of winter, causing the mercury to fall further. A person named Master Abdul Qadir was killed by lightning in Chashma Kanbi area of ​​Tehsil Zehri of Khuzdar district.

Due to heavy rain, there was urban flooding in Sariab Road, Wahdat Colony, Pashtunabad, Brewery Road, Joint Road, Railway Colony, Huda, Jail Road and Quetta and many areas around. Rainwater entered dozens of houses, forcing people to leave their homes and seek shelter in safer places. Many houses in the outskirts of the provincial capital were damaged.

Almost all the roads in Quetta city are flooded with rainwater, drains and sewage systems are overflowing and dirty water is flowing on the roads.

The Divisional Commissioner of Quetta, who is also the Administrator of the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, Muhammad Hamza Shafqat rushed to the various rain-affected areas along with water pumps and sentry workers and other officials of the Corporation as soon as he received the report of the uncontrollable flood. Water pumps began dewatering the area where rainwater had accumulated, while sentry staff began cleaning up areas of the central city.

There was heavy rain with thunder in many cities of the province including Chaman, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Qila Abdullah, Pashin, Ziarat, Daki, Zhob, Khanuzai, Muslim Bagh, Qila Abdullah, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Nushki. . Reports reaching here from other areas said that road connectivity was badly affected in some parts of northern Balochistan, affecting traffic on Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan, Loralai-Dera Ghazi Khan and Quetta-Chaman highways. There have also been reports of falling of middle houses from different areas.
