Fazal sought the Prime Minister’s role in resolving the issue of registration of madrasas.




In the Senate, Muslim League (N) parliamentary leader Irfan Siddiqui met Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on January 3, 2025. – PID

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday contacted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by telephone and demanded his role in resolving the issue of registration of madrasas in the provinces.

Fazal told the Prime Minister that there is a need for legislation in the provincial assemblies for the registration of religious schools. Shahbaz Sharif promised that he will discuss the issue with the Chief Minister.

The JUIF chief said that the provincial governments should follow the pattern of the federal government which facilitated the introduction of the Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in both houses of Parliament. Now it has become law through gazette notification.

Meanwhile, in the Senate, Pakistan Muslim League (N) parliamentary leader Irfan Siddiqui met Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence and inquired about his well-being.

He also discussed the country’s political situation. No official statement was received from either side regarding the meeting.
