Famous writer Bipsi Sidhwa passed away at the age of 86.




Renowned Pakistani author and novelist Bipsi Sidhwa was celebrated for her groundbreaking work, Ice Candy ManDied at age 86 in Houston, Texas. Geo News on Thursday.

His brother Feroze Bhandara said his last rites will be held in Houston after three days of commemoration.

Sidhwa was born on 11 August 1938 in a prominent Parsi family in Karachi, but soon after her birth, her family moved to Lahore where she spent most of her life.

Ice Candy ManSidhwa’s acclaimed novel that vividly captures the chaos and suffering during the tumultuous partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947, has become one of the most revered novels in Pakistan and internationally.

The novel, which portrays Sidhwa’s childhood experiences of the riots in Lahore during the Partition, significantly influenced the global perception of Pakistani literature.

The novel was included in the BBC’s 100 Most Influential Novels.
