Lindikotal: Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chairman Captain (retd) Khalid Mehmood on Thursday called for mandatory basic civil defense training for all students in private and government educational institutions.
Addressing a civil defense function at a school in Jamrud, Khalid Mehmood highlighted the importance of including first aid, fire fighting and rescue training in the curriculum. “It is important that every student is equipped with these life-saving skills to respond professionally to emergency situations and minimize potential loss of life and property,” he said.
Mehmood said he would talk to the primary and higher education secretary to make similar training compulsory for students in government schools. Appreciating the efforts of the Civil Defense Department, he said that this year alone, more than 67,000 people, including students and professionals, were trained in essential skills like first aid, fire fighting and rescue operations.
