As the country marks the 10th anniversary of the Peshawar Army Public School (APS) attack on Monday, all public and private schools and colleges in Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi will remain closed, it was revealed on Sunday.
147 innocent students and teachers lost their lives in this heinous attack on December 16, 2014, and it is the bloodiest and most painful incident in the country’s history, as six terrorists in military uniform entered the school premises and killed students, teachers. And fired at the staff.
147 people including 122 students were martyred in the attack while school principal Tahira Qazi and school teacher Sofia Hijab were also martyred in the attack.
At least nine security personnel, including two personnel, were injured in the encounter with the terrorists. Additionally, 6 terrorists involved in the attack were arrested by security forces and later sentenced to death by military courts.
According to the notification issued today by the office of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, all public and private schools and colleges within the territorial jurisdiction of the city will remain closed on Monday.

Similarly, Lahore Chief Executive Officer for Education Nazar Hussain said that all the educational institutions of the mega city will remain closed on the anniversary of the fall of Dhaka and APS massacre.
He said that the nation will never forget the great sacrifices of APS martyrs.
He further said that the martyrdom of children in APS Peshawar strengthened and united the nation.
