Islamabad: The federal government has decided to increase the strength of the Islamabad Police with more recruitments in the police force.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the creation of 1,934 more posts for the Islamabad Police, keeping in mind the repeated calls by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for sit-ins and protests in the capital.
Sources say that the Ministry of Interior had sent to the Prime Minister for summary approval of the creation of these posts in view of the law and order situation in Islamabad.
The Management Services Wing of the Establishment Division agreed to the summary. These new posts include 24 Inspectors, 50 Sub-Inspectors, 100 ASIs, 180 Head Constables and 1580 Constables of Grade 16.
The Ministry of Interior has been informed about the approval of the summary.
The Ministry will now take the approval of these posts from the Finance Division. Earlier, 1,000 posts were sanctioned to protect foreign nationals, especially Chinese. The appointees will be posted in the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
