Dame Sarah Storey has said she is “absolutely gutted” to pull out of the upcoming series of Dancing on Ice after fracturing her ankle in a training fall.
Britain’s most successful Paralympian posted on social media on Friday that she had a “freak stumble and fall”, while her left foot was “stuck on ice” meaning she will be out of ITV from January next year. Unable to participate in the series.
Dame Sarah thanked the show’s cast and medical staff for making sure she was “already well and rehabbing at home”.
She had been working on her routine with pro skating partner Sylvain Longchambon, but will now have to arrange to watch from home with her leg up on crutches.

The swimmer-turned-cyclist won the 18th. And the 19th Paralympic gold medal of his career in Paris in September, before hitting the ice rink for show rehearsals.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “Absolutely disappointed to have my dancing on ice training interrupted like this – just as my first routine with @slongchambon was really coming together!
“A freak trip and fall stuck my left foot on the ice, causing me to break my left ankle.”
He added: “I’m very lucky that both Sylvain and Coach @stephenpickavance were with me and knew exactly what to do and that the medical back-up for the show is truly world class.
“The head of medical @sharonmorrisonuk wasted no time in getting me to the best surgeon so I’m already fine and rehab is ongoing at home!”
‘Another Return’
The 47-year-old – who has won 30 medals at nine different Paralympic Games – confirmed she was “working with the team at ITV to work out what’s next”. She said she is also “focusing on getting back to full strength and of course getting back on my bike before next season!”
“My career has seen many ups and downs with injury and illness, and a comeback after two kids, which means I’m well equipped for another comeback,” he wrote.
Some people online have already started speculating about her possible return to the show in 2026.
Dame Sarah, who was made a Dame in the 2013 New Year’s Honors for services to paracycling, The show’s line-up included the nominated final contestant. – with fellow celebrities including Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, TV presenter Michaela Strachan and soap stars Charlie Brooks and Sam Austin.
He will be joined on the ice by former footballer Anton Ferdinand, Hollyoaks actress Chelsea Haley and reality stars Molly Pearce and Fern McCann.
