Sean “Daddy” Combs says the “Freak Off” tapes prove his innocence.
According to Page sixthe hip-hop mogul’s legal team claims the videos show nothing more than casual moments between adults, leading to a November 2023 sexual assault lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Cassandra “Casey” Ventura. Gaye counters allegations of abuse and coercion.
In fact, Coombs’ team is so confident about the nature of the tapes that it wants to show them to the public at its upcoming trial.
In a motion filed Tuesday in New York federal court, Coombs’ attorneys argued, “These videos … confirm Mr. Coombs’ innocence and … cannot be investigated for their full penal value unless They should not be prepared electronically.”
According to the defense, the nine tapes show “private sexual activity between fully consenting adults in a long-term relationship” that finally ended in 2018 after nearly a decade.
The team insists the footage proves Ventura “not only consented, but enjoyed himself.” They deny claims that the videos were held as “collateral,” saying they were found on Ventura’s own device, not Combs’.
Additionally, they argue that the tapes show no coercion, no violence, and no illegal activity, painting Ventura as “happy, dominant, and completely in control.”
Combs’ attorneys have accused prosecutors of perpetuating sexist stereotypes, saying that “the government is here to protect women who can’t be trusted to make their own decisions about sex and have sex.” are not competent to consent to…”
The defense has asked for full access to the tapes, claiming it is essential to a fair trial. Combs’ legal team believes the recordings will prove there was “no evidence” of manipulation, torture, or anything criminal, despite Ventura’s serious allegations.
