RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has issued over 8,000 challans during December under a special drive against unfit Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and heavy vehicles.
According to the spokesperson of CTP, 16 fatal road accidents including 6 in the city area took place within the limits of CTP during December. 8 accidents occurred due to negligence and recklessness of drivers of heavy vehicles and PSV, speeding, violation of one way and wrong overtaking. He said that 16 people lost their lives in fatal road accidents.
He said that the City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Benish Fatima has sent a letter to the concerned authorities requesting to fix the entry times on the main roads of the rural areas similar to the restriction of the hours of heavy vehicles in the city areas. has been done to avoid fatal road accidents. The loss of precious lives can be prevented and controlled.
