A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother in the Republic of Ireland.
The body of Marjana Popp, 58, was found in a bog near Clonark in County Roscommon on Monday.
Police believe she was murdered at her home in Athlone, County Westmeath, on Saturday, December 28.
Nebuza Pop appeared in a late special sitting of the Mullingar District Court on Friday evening.
Det Sgt Kevin Craig told the court that Mr Popp, who has an address in Beechwell in Athlone, did not answer when he was charged.
The lawyer of the accused applied for legal aid which was granted.
The judge remanded Mr. Pope into custody with an order that he receive medical and psychiatric attention.
Mr Popp will appear in Athlone District Court via video link on Wednesday.
