British lightweight Caroline Dubois retained her WBC world title after her bout with Jessica Kumara ended in a disappointing technical draw due to a clash of heads.
On his 24th birthday, Dubois dropped the challenger in the first round in Sheffield with a smart, straight left hand.
The Londoner felt an early finish and continued to pile on the pressure in the second as Camera’s left eye was bleeding after an accidental clash of heads.
The referee and ringside doctor called off the bout before the third, with the 36-year-old Canadian – who also had a heavily swollen right eye – unfit to continue.
“Blood wasn’t coming to her face, she didn’t want it,” said DuBois, who won his first 10 pro fights.
“It was either being stopped by the doctor or me stopping it. I wish her well and hope she gets a safe flight home.”
DuBois became the interim full world champion after Katie Taylor vacated the belt. He has called for a unification fight with Doncaster’s WBO champion Terry Harper next.
Barnsley’s Callum Simpson defended his British and Commonwealth super middleweight titles with a second round stoppage of Stade Woodall in the main event.
Simpson, 29, sent Woodall to the canvas with a barrage of shots, before the referee intervened after another attack despite protests from Woodall, 30.
