ISLAMABAD: At least 10 people were killed and 7 injured when a bus overturned on the M-14 Motorway near Fateh Jang, the Motorway Police said on Monday.
The accident took place due to the negligence of the driver when the bus was going from Bahawalpur to Islamabad.
The spokesperson further said that the bodies along with the injured have been shifted to THQ Hospital Fateh Jang.
Bus accidents are not uncommon in Pakistan and often occur due to various reasons including driver negligence, road and weather conditions etc.
Last month, a “high-speed” bus carrying wedding guests plunged off a bridge into the Indus River, killing at least 14 people in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The bus was part of a wedding procession headed to Chakwal district of Punjab when it fell into the river from Tilchi bridge in Diamer district limits.
However, officials said that two people including the bride were rescued in this incident.
Earlier in September, 6 people were killed and 20 injured when a bus fell into a ditch in Danasar area of Shirani region of Balochistan.
In the month of August, at least two bus accidents took place in which 25 people died after a passenger bus from Haveli Kahota to Rawalpindi plunged into a ditch near Pana Bridge.
Meanwhile, a passenger bus collided with a trailer on the Sukkur-Multan Motorway near Malukwali village of Ghotki, as a result of which 8 people were killed and 7 injured.
