British woman and fiance found dead in villa in Vietnam


A British woman and her fiance have been found dead in a holiday villa in Vietnam, local police have said.

Greta Marie Ottesen, 33, was discovered dead by staff on a bed in a first-floor room in the coastal city of Hoi An in the central region of the East Asian country at around 11:18 local time (04:18 GMT). on December 26, police said in a statement on Monday.

Her fiance Alice Arno Quentin, a 36-year-old South African man, was found dead on a bed in another room of the villa which was reportedly locked from inside.

Britain’s Foreign Office confirmed it was in contact with local authorities and supporting the family of a British woman killed in Vietnam.

Ms. Otisen was a social media manager, and Mr. Quentin was a musician and live streamer.

A video announcing their engagement was posted on Instagram by videography company Red Eye Studios on December 11.

The two had registered for long-term temporary housing at Hua Chong Villa in Kim Thanh Commune since last summer.

Police said that preliminary examination of the bodies found no signs of external force and no signs of burglary were found in the rooms.

According to local media, several empty bottles of alcohol were found at the crime scene.

The cause of the couple’s death is under investigation.

A UK Foreign Office spokesman said in a statement: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Vietnam and are in contact with local authorities.”
