Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has inaugurated a state-of-the-art corridor, Malir Expressway Phase I in Karachi, which was constructed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) project in Sindh.
The Sindh Government has named the newly constructed High Speed Corridor after the founder of PPP “Martyr Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto”.
Bilawal himself drove his vehicle along with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the state-of-the-art corridor, featuring a three-lane double carriageway with modern and access-controlled infrastructure, and paid a toll tax of Rs 100.
Inauguration ceremony was organized at Qayyumabad Interchange of Expressway.
Speaking at the event, the PPP chief said that three generations of the Bhutto family have been contributing to the development of the city and his grandfather took revolutionary steps to improve Karachi’s infrastructure and employment.
He further said that his mother and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto also paid special attention to the development and peace of Karachi whenever the People’s Party government came.
Bilawal said that former mayor of Karachi Mustafa Kamal can testify that his father Asif Ali Zardari gave more resources to the port city than any personality in the country.
Praising the Sindh government led by the People’s Party for the construction of Malir Expressway, he said that this project is being developed under a public-private partnership. “We are working successfully under this partnership to solve the problems of Karachi,” he added.
He urged the government to make development projects beneficial to the business community and said that investors will not be interested in projects that are not profitable for them.
Acknowledging that water scarcity is a major problem in Karachi, the PPP urged the provincial government to focus on alleviating water-related problems in the city.
Bilawal also said that his party will not do politics of extremism and revenge.
“Green energy parks should also be built under public-private partnership,” suggested Bilawal and invited all segments and stakeholders to make joint efforts to develop the country’s financial hub.
CM Shah while addressing the same function admitted that the new construction of Shahrah Bhutto, Malir Expressway was completed after long delay.
He said that former Prime Minister Benazir had approved a package 30 years ago which included expressway projects in Lyari and Malir.
The chief minister said that PPP chairman had asked the provincial administration not to use the names of his family members in development projects, but the government made a special request to Bilawal to allow him to name this road after his grandfather. give Importance
