An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday jailed two suspects associated with the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in a case related to the recent suicide attack near Karachi Airport in which two Chinese nationals were killed. And one Pakistani citizen was killed. .
Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel brought Javed, the alleged mastermind of the suicide bombing, and his female accomplice Gul Nisa to ATC in Clifton in an armored vehicle (APC).
On completion of physical remand, the investigating officer produced the accused before the Administrative Judge of ATC and requested for a second extension of their remand.
The IO told the judge that a joint investigation team has been constituted to probe the case, adding that a JIT has already been convened to question the accused. He requested the judge to extend the physical remand of the accused till December 11 for further investigation.
Rejecting the IO’s request to extend the remand, the judge sent the accused to jail on judicial remand and directed the investigating officer to submit the charge sheet against them in due time.
Meanwhile, the judge issued a notice to the prosecution on a petition filed by a company linked to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), seeking the return of case property including two vehicles. The court directed the investigating officer to submit a report in this regard on December 16.
