Another case has been registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station against the masterminds of the recent Karachi Airport attack as well as key commanders of the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
The case was registered under charges of murder, attempted murder, use of explosives and financing of terrorism. FIR No. 157/24 was registered after interrogation of the arrested accused Javed Baloch, the revelations of which led to the inclusion of BLA commander Bashir Ahmad Baloch alias Sherzeb and Abdul Rehman Gul as key accused.
The case was registered under Sections 302, 324, 353, 186, 427 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of SHO Inspector Kaleem Khan Musa of the Airport Police Station, which includes Section 3/4 of the Explosives Act, 1908. was read together. Section 7, 11-F and 21-I of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
According to the contents of the FIR, CTD officials said that CTD Inspector Umar Farooq, investigating FIR No. 142/24, during the investigation of the suicide attack targeting the convoy of Chinese engineers near Karachi Airport. Interrogated the arrested accused Javed Baloch. . During interrogation, Javed admitted that the airport blast was facilitated and financed by the banned BLA’s Majeed Brigade.
The accused revealed that the terror operation was planned and executed by BLA’s top masterminds Bashir and Gul who played a vital role in ensuring the completion of the operation.
After the investigation and revelations of the arrested accused, the senior authorities charged the masterminds of the airport attack with aiding and abetting the crime.
Funding for the attack was arranged through a private bank branch in Hub Chowki, Balochistan. This money was used to buy a vehicle for the blast. The vehicle, a Vigo with registration number KN-0375, was purchased on September 3 from Al Haram Automobiles on Khalid Bin Waleed Road, Karachi for Rs 7.1 million.
An initial payment of Rs 10,000 was made in advance, and the remaining amount was transferred through fraud involving bank employees and accounts. Saeed Ali Traders bank account was allegedly used for the transaction.
The purchased vehicle was registered in the name of the buyer on September 5 by the Excise and Taxation Department after which the explosives were installed as per the instructions of the BLA.
Shah Fahad, the suicide bomber involved in the attack, was facilitated by Bashir, Gul and others. Another suspect, Bilal, who is the bank’s business development officer, Saeed Ali and other unidentified persons were instrumental in the planning and execution.
A second case was registered based on the revelations of Javed’s interrogation. Investigators are also interrogating a female accused, Gul Nisa Baloch, in connection with the incident. The CTD’s investigation shed light on a detailed financial trail and operational planning behind the terror attack, including the BLA’s key The involvement of members and their networks was identified.
It should be noted that the Sindh Home Department has formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to interrogate the suspects arrested in connection with the attack on Chinese nationals at the Karachi Airport on October 6. CTD Deputy Inspector General (DIG) ) Asif Ijaz Sheikh was appointed as the Chairman of JIT.
Javed and Nisa were arrested for the suicide attack on Chinese nationals in which three people including two Chinese nationals were killed and many injured. The suicide bomber rammed his double-cabin vehicle into a van carrying Chinese engineers at the airport signal. According to the bomb disposal squad report, 80 kg of explosives were used in the attack.
