Ariana Grande and Cynthia Ario have received mixed reactions from fans on the press tour for their recent releases. Wicked.
Recently, a new clip has gone viral on X, formerly Twitter, in which Cynthia tears up while discussing her character Alphaba’s green makeup on set.
Both co-stars appeared Pink News to promote their highly anticipated two-part movie adaptation of the Broadway musical.
During the conversation, the 37-year-old actress appeared emotional as she detailed that removing the green makeup every day made her more comfortable in her own skin.
The clip also featured Cynthia’s co-star, the Disney alum, who appeared to tear up while holding her hand and singing her praises.
Cinemagoers found the interview highly controversial as a promotional event and jokingly described it as an “emotional support group”, while some commented that the press tour made them not want to see the film.
In the interview, Cynthia was heard saying, “I’m a person and I feel, and I have feelings, and I can share them.”
Ariana replied, “And if you need to cry right now, cry.”
The award-winning actress added, “Someone once told me that I like green the most about the alphabet and I would like to be green, but actually being green, yes, I want to play this role. But every time I played the role, I loved who I was even more.”
Users on social media slammed the actors, with one saying, “I’m old enough to remember when press junkets made you want to go see a movie.”
Another wrote, “I’m so disappointed with the publicity for this movie. I refuse to watch it.”
A third chimed in, “Wow….I won’t see it any more than I was planning on not seeing it.”
