Mansehra: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader from Upper Kohistan Abdul Sattar Khan on Monday urged the federal government to include Kohistan region in Hazara Electricity Supply Company (HAZECO).
Talking to the media, he said that the people of the three districts of Kohistan have always demanded the government to resolve their issues with the Water and Power Development Authority to ensure smooth implementation of energy projects in the region. .
He said that a delegation from Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan and Kolai Plas held discussions with Hazesco under his leadership and apprised them of the problems faced by the residents. “The government should include our area under the jurisdiction of Hazesco, because it was left out by mistake,” he said.
The PMNL leader stressed the need to honor the agreements made with the local people after the devastating floods that hit the region in 2022. “We demand the reconstruction of all the roads that WAPDA committed to rebuild through the agreements made with the local people, in which an agreement was signed. The former lawmaker also stressed the need to remove hurdles in laying 132kV transmission lines from Dasu Hydropower Project to the National Grid and 111kV lines in all four tehsils as per the wishes of the affected people.
“We urge the government to earmark 10 percent of the royalties of various power projects including Dasu, Diamer Bhasha, and Suki Kanari for the welfare of the people of Hazara division,” he said.
