Anti-Israel protesters descended with “Free Palestine” signs and banners. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade In New York City on Thursday, police removed those who tried to block the parade route.

A group of protesters held Palestinian flags and waved a banner that read, “Don’t celebrate genocide!” in the middle of the street as the parade, led by a Ronald McDonald balloon, came down W. 55th Street and Sixth Avenue.

The pictures show. NYPD officers breaking up the demonstration and detaining several protesters so that the parade could continue without interruption. Some protesters were seen leaving while others who refused to move were dragged or taken to the ground and handcuffed.

Protesters can be heard chanting “Free Palestine” as police break up the group in video from the scene. Protesters could be heard shouting as large crowds lined the streets to watch the parade.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams warned protesters on Wednesday not to repeat their efforts.

“I really want to take the time to tell the Grinches who believe they’re going to disrupt the parade that it’s not going to happen,” Adams said during a press conference.
